This is an easily read diagram of simple green design moves you could make on your house that would shrink its carbon footprint. I didn't know that having a central vacuum system saves energy. Also it sounds so simple to shade your east and west sides and keep your wall colors lite to save energy. those should almost be musts when it comes to home building. It makes sense that not using carpet saves materials and and cuts down on chemical waste. Using other things for flooring such as tile and wood are better replacements.
